The Step is a cafe, bar and gallery located on Myddleton Road, an Edwardian shopping street in the Bowes Park conservation area.
Husband and wife, Mat & Nell, opened The Step in February 2012 to provide a welcoming place for locals and visitors to enjoy good food, drink and music in a welcoming environment.
Food is freshly prepared in our kitchen by excellent local cooks and we have plenty of tasty beverages to wash it down with…whether it’s a hot drink, soft drink or stiff drink you’re looking for.
There’s always something interesting going on at The Step in our vibrant arts programme including live music, comedy, theatre, interesting talks, exhibitions, vintage markets and a highly competitive but entertaining quiz.
We’re in the ground floor of a beautiful Edwardian house and only 2 minutes stroll from Bowes Park train station, a brisk 5 minute walk from Bounds Green tube and a hop, skip and a jump from the buses on Green Lanes….a great place to step out, if you will.
LOCAL SUPPLIERS
Almost everything we source and sell comes from suppliers based in London or the Home Counties – not a bad reference point! We work with small companies who focus on ethical production, quality and originality because we want to provide the freshest, most delicious menus and sell unique, beautiful products while also supporting our local economy.

The Celtic Bakers
